The BMC Board is delighted to announce two recent Board appointments.
Following an open recruitment process John Willmott will be joining the Board as an Independent Director.
John has recently stepped back from his professional life, where his last role was that of Chief Operating Officer for Close Brothers Merchant Bank.
His academic background was in geography and specifically glaciology, consequently he's an experienced arctic walker and climber, having travelled extensively in Alaska, Canada and Scandinavia.
John has also volunteered as an assessor with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme and as a group leader with Endeavour, helping empower young people by experiencing the challenge of outdoor adventure. He is keen to support the future development of the BMC and brings extensive knowledge and experience of the insurance industry to the Board.
Roger Murray, Chair said "I look forward to John joining the Board and working with him at this exciting time in the development of the BMC and the Sector as a whole."
In addition, in October, Neal Hockley was co-opted on to the Board as a Nominated Director. Many members will know Neal through his excellent work as chair of the Pwyllgor Cymru (Wales Committee). A Senior Lecturer in Environmental Economics and Policy, and College Director of Postgraduate Research at Bangor University he brings with him a deep understanding of how the BMC can fit in Wales. Neal will be in his role until the 2023 AGM.
