The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is delighted to announce its collaboration with Working with Parents in Sport (WWPIS).
WWPIS supports organisations, coaches, parents, and children to work effectively together to help young people fulfil their potential both in and out of sport. The organisation currently collaborates with over 15 national governing bodies, Olympic programs, football academies, and various performance pathway programs globally.
Through working with WWPIS, the BMC aims to empower all athletes involved in England Squad and GBC teams to realise their full potential both within and beyond the sport. The platform provides valuable information on nutrition and ways to improve performance.
Initially, a customised BMC and WWPIS Platform will be made available to all coaches and parents involved in the GB Climbing performance pathway. The platform provides valuable information on a range of topics in several formats to support the athletes journey and beyond.
Helen Murphy, the BMC Safeguarding Manager, stated, “This platform is crucial for our athletes and parents as we strive to champion a safer sport for all, improve relationships, and foster collaborative work between parents, athletes, and coaches. Our aim is to enhance the overall experience for all athletes in the GB Climbing pathway, teams, and beyond.”
WWPIS CEO, Gordon MacLelland, commented, "This collaboration is incredibly exciting. We eagerly anticipate working with the British Mountaineering Council, offering support not only for parents but also assisting coaches in engaging and supporting parents to benefit young climbers."
