The BMC Huts Group is inviting all hut operators to complete a survey to help us to understand more about the current hut landscape and the support that is needed.
The BMC Huts Group last undertook a major survey of club huts in 2016. If you have not already seen the results you can read a summary on the BMC website
A sunny outlook for club huts?
The BMC Huts Group would like you to take part in a further survey,and this time we're including questions about sustainability for mountain huts. From this we will be able to share information about how clubs are addressing climate change, market factors, and returning after Covid.
As in the previous survey, individual club’s data will be confidential and will only be published in an aggregated form. From this you can see how you may find ways to improve your ways of working.
If you are doing great things, we may contact you and ask to showcase them.
We are running the survey via SurveyMonkey. It is easy to use and to help you through it here is a list of the information we will be asking;
1. You, your club, contact details.
2. Your hut, ownership, age and facilities.
3. Who can use the property, prices and level of use for the last years and a pre Covid year.
4. Running costs for the last year.
5. Changes considered, and made, due to climate change, market factors and returning after Covid.
Some numbers will need to be available regarding bed nights etc. If precise figures are not available, then an estimate is acceptable. A separate form will be required for each hut you own or manage.
The survey will take approx. 30 mins to complete.
Although you have to finish the survey in one sitting you can look through all the questions without filling them in and come back again when you have the information.
To thank you for your participation the BMC give three random entries, received via the deadline below, a £25 voucher to spend in the BMC shop.
Please submit your completed survey by Tuesday 19 December 2023 to enter the prize draw.
If you have any questions please contact us via huts@thebmc.co.uk
