If you’re based in the south east of England and want some advice on getting out on the rocks and into the hills, grab a copy of the 2015 free mini-guide, The London & South East Mountaineer.
The guide is the perfect pocket-sized introduction to climbing, hill walking and mountaineering, and is packed full of tips and suggestions to help you plan adventures close to home and further afield. It also contains information about mountaineering clubs, climbing walls, and outdoor shops.
The guide was compiled by Elizabeth Holley, BMC regional development officer for London & the South East, who said: “One of my goals was to find a way to support BMC members, clubs and climbing walls at a local level. I therefore pulled together all the basic information that has helped me as a climber, hill walker and mountaineer living in the South East of England. I hope that this mini-guide will point people in the right direction and inspire the next generation to find their true passion and love for the outdoors just as I did.”
With over 27,000 BMC members, around 90 clubs and 100 walls across the region, bringing all this information together will hopefully get even more people into clubs, walls and active in the outdoors. You can pick up the guide from various climbing walls, outdoor shops and other local providers across the region. You can also order a free print copy from the BMC online shop (postage costs apply) or download the mini-guide as a free PDF from the BMC website.
