First BMC Learning to Train Workshop

Coaching steep rock techniques on the workshop

The first BMC Learning to Train workshop was held at Climb Rochdale yesterday

The BMC FUNdamentals of Climbing workshops have been running since 2002, and with Sport England funding the BMC is developing further Long Term Athlete Development workshops, including Learning to Train. This workshop takes the principles covered at the FUNdamentals stage a stage further, looking at how specific climbing techniques can be coached.

The next workshop to be developed will look at how to effectively train strength, endurance and strength endurance. This should be rolled out within the next tweve to eighteen months. It is envisaged that the LTAD workshops will, in the long run, form a part of the coaching system being developed by Mountain Leader Training.

If you work at a climbing wall or outside on the crags, are a parent, youth worker or teacher then you can find out more about the BMC's LTAD programme here and book on one of the twenty eight workshops being delivered this year around the country.
