V Festival might think it’s clever holding its music festival in two locations over the same weekend, but BMC volunteers can top that, so we’re putting on three festivals in one September weekend, and adding another later in the month for good measure.
During the first weekend of September you can choose between climbing on the Culm coast of Devon / Cornwall, the glorious Gower peninsula in South Wales, and Northumberland’s Crag Lough sitting directly under historic Hadrian’s Wall. The following weekend it’s the turn of the BMC-owned Wilton Quarry in Lancashire to showcase its attractions.
Here’s what’s happening:
Cornish Climbing Festival (6-8 Sep)
Following the success of the 2012 Cornish Climbing Festival in West Cornwall, the BMC’s team of volunteers in the South West has decided to host another weekend of climbing and socialising; this time the venue will be the North Cornwall / Devon border. The festival will be based in Morwenstow, with reduced rate camping at the Woodview Campsite and evening activities at the Bush Inn. Everyone is welcome, so head to the Culm Coast.

Crag Lough Clean-up Festival (7-8 Sep)
Continuing last year’s sterling work, the Crag Lough Clean-up Festival returns in 2013. Crag Lough sits immediately below Hadrian's Wall, and is one of Northumberland's finest low to mid-grade crags. Saturday will be spent cleaning routes, with an evening BBQ courtesy of the BMC. On Sunday, you can enjoy climbing the newly cleaned routes. Come along and get involved – everyone is welcome, whether you are a local or just up for the weekend.

WiltonFest (14-15 Sep)
The first ever "WiltonFest" is a celebration of the fantastic climbing that the Wilton Quarries have to offer. Based in the BMC's own Wilton 1, on Saturday there will be free tea/coffee all day, a free BBQ in the evening, and a wonderful prize raffle…and lots of climbing at the BMC's premier owned crag! Come along, meet new people, camp over in Wilton and enjoy some more climbing on Sunday.
