Youth Climbing Series Grand Final 2022

The BMC, Mountaineering Ireland and Mountaineering Scotland and pleased to present the Youth Climbing Series Grand Final 2022. Please note, this is an invitational event only.

Date: 26 & 27 November

Location: Rockstar, Swindon

Categories: Youth A, B, C and D

Entry Fee: £60 (Low income discount available)

Registration is via an email invite and is based on the results of the YCS Regional Rounds.

The top twenty-four climbers from each region across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland will compete to be crowned champion.

The top three competitors from each category, in each region, will be eligible to compete at the Grand Final and will be invited to register via email after the fourth round has taken place.

Format

The Grand Final will follow the regional round formats.

  • 8 boulder problems per category 
  • 2.30-hour time limit
  • 5 attempts per problem
  • 4 routes per category
  • 6-minute time limit per route

Full results will be published by the Wednesday after the Grand Final.

Competitor Briefing: 10:45am, Youth A (Males and Females)

Climbing starts: 11:00am

Finishes: 13:30pm

Registration: 12:15pm- 12:45 (Category B Only)

Competitor briefing: 13:00, Youth B (Males and Females)

Climbing starts: 13:45

Finishes: 16:15

Categories C and D- Roped

Registration: 10:00am-10:30 (Category C and D Females only)

Competitor Briefing: 10:45am, Youth C and D Females only

Climbing starts: 11:00am

Finishes: 14:30pm (approx.)

Registration: 12:15pm- 12:45 (Category C and D Males Only)

Categories C and D- Bouldering

Finishes: 16:15- Overall Podiums 16:30

Categories A and B- Roped

Registration: 09:00am-09:30 (Category A and B Females only)

Competitor Briefing: 09:45am, Youth A and B Females only

Climbing starts: 10:00am

Finishes: 14:30pm (approx.)

Registration: 12:15pm- 12:45 (Category A and B Males Only)

Competitor briefing: 13:00, Youth A and B Males Only

How to enter

Late entries are not accepted.

To enter you must complete our online booking form, with successful payment, by the entry deadline. Forms without payment will NOT be counted.

All competitors MUST be a member of the BMC, Mountaineering Ireland or Mountaineering Scotland to enter.

If you haven’t used the online booking system before, then you will need to create an account to log in.

Cancellation policy

  • If you cancel with less than five business days of the competition - you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • If you cancel more than five business days before the competition - you will receive a 50% refund of the cancelled round/s.
  • If a competition is cancelled due to an unforeseen circumstance - you will be entitled to a full refund.

Parental/Guardian, Spectators & Coaches

All competitors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Spectators are welcome within the centre.

Volunteers

We rely heavily on volunteers for this competition to run if you are able to volunteer at the Grand Final, please email ycs@thebmc.co.uk

Volunteers are crucial to the running of the day and will receive refreshments throughout the day and lunch. No other expenses will be able to be claimed.
