After much anticipation, the Climbing Works opened its doors this sunday.
The Climbing Works is the latest addition to the Sheffield wall scene that has left other bouldering walls standing. The centre offers over 1000m² of climbing surface, six graded circuits, each consisting of 50 colour-coded boulder problems, reset every 3 months, a fearsome competiton wall, a tweaky board, kids area, the worlds biggest campus board, and of course, a cafe serving real coffee.
Blustery weather ensured a packed crowd and no one came away disappointed. The circuits worked well, giving a constant rotation of eager climbers, and it seemed like no one could actually stop climbing. "I'm so tired, but it's like Font, I can't stop", was the only complaint heard all day.
There'll be a lot of sore arms today. And the official opening is next weekend - so come along then to see what all the fuss is about.
