The Mountain Leader Training Association has launched a survey and wants your view!
The MLTA was formed in 2005 to provide ongoing support and development opportunities for climbing, walking and mountain leaders who hold or are working towards a national award.
The Association wants your views about its proposals for Continuing Personal and Professional Development. You do not need to be a member of MLTA to complete the questionnaire.
The main proposals mentioned in the questionnaire which MLTA would like your views on are for MLTA members to:
1. Undertake a minimum of 20 days (or 20 climbing sessions) further experience (this includes personal and group leading experience) in the activities for which they hold an MLT award. Members who hold a number of Awards can log experience across the range of activities/terrain for which they are qualified.
2. Gain a minimum of 2 credit points from a wide range of further training opportunities eg MLTA workshop, MLT Award Training and Assessment course, DofE Assessors course, GirlGuiding Trainers and Assessors course, online training, reading a technical article, delivering training.
3. Confirm that they hold a current first aid certificate or qualification.
It is intended that the new scheme will start in January 2011.
An online log book is also proposed for recording experience and training activity.
The survey is currently online. Please complete it!
The survey closes on 31st March 2010.
