Grants available to young climbers with the Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust
Andy Fanshawe was one of Britain's leading mountaineers and a former National Officer at the British Mountaineering Council who was always prepared to help other young climbers. Following his death in 1992, the Trust was established to continue his work in helping those who lack the means to visit the world's high places. The Trust aims to help organisations or schools and less usually individuals who are offering climbing or mountain experiences to disadvantaged young people.
The Trust also offers funding for disadvantaged young people who wish to participate in expeditions or on courses aimed at personal development rather than professional qualifications. In those circumstances, up to 50% of the total cost to the individual on the expedition or course is available, with a maximum grant of £500.
