Exceptional weather in North Wales, a team of extremely enthusiastic volunteers and students, everything came together to make this year's Student Seminar one of the best ever.

On 8 and 9 October, the annual Student Safety Seminar began again at Plas Y Brenin. Around 90 students arrived to attend a wide variety of workshops which were delivered by some exceptional volunteers keen to share their skills and experience. And even better, the weather was fantastic!

The weekend started with a guest appearance from Heather Morning who was kind enough to come down from Mountaineering Scotland, Glenmore Lodge, where she works as a Mountain Safety Advisor. Heather's talk gave an educational insight into how serious the winter environment can be in Scotland and why careful planning and preparation is essential before embarking on walking or climbing trips during the winter months.

Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday a wide variety of workshops were on offer, and included: incident management, transport, student union policy, mountain first aid, equipment maintenance, winter skills, single pitch climbing, multi pitch climbing, scrambling and navigation. There was also a bouldering and orienteering competition on the Saturday night with prizes donated from DMM.

Tryfan got a few ascents, numerous routes at Tremadog, Llanberis Pass, Idwal Slabs and on the more local cliffs such as Willys, Pinnacles, White Crag and Ricks and Racks.
