The first IFSC Boulder World Cup of the season took place in Chongqing, China this weekend. Shauna Coxsey and Mina Leslie-Wujastyk went out to compete.
After a great qualifying round, both Shauna and Mina qualified for the semi-finals in 5th and 16th respectively.
Mina finished the competition in a very respectable 17th and showed great promise for the rest of the season. Shauna climbed a very hard set of semi-final problems and qualified for the final in 3rd position.
In the final the problems were set very hard and none of the girls topped more than 2 out of the 4 problems. Shauna finished a fantastic 4th, just being pipped for the podium by Jain Kim of Korea.
This competition is the first round of 5 IFSC Boulder World Cups this season and is a promising start for Shauna who is in her second year as a senior boulderer.
The Senior British Bouldering Team is supported by Sherpa Adventure Gear and Lonsdale China.
