Last weekend (16th and 17th June), The Works in Sheffield played host to the summer’s Senior Leading Team Training Weekend. Amongst those who attended were Alan Cassidy, Lucy Creamer, Tony Musselbrook, Ashleigh Naysmith, Gaz Parry, Rob Sutton and Adam Watson.
This report from Team Manager Tom Randall.
Day one took the form of a series of tests carried out by Rob Scaife from the Sheffield Hallam Sports Science Department. All the team members were put through their paces on grip fatigue, lung function and other measures. This was followed by a day of route climbing on the Competition Wall at the Works with some excellent flashes of 8a’s and 8a+’s by members of the team.
Day two encompassed Neil Gresham’s superb coaching workshop, with some proper scientific background work and then plenty of sweating on the circuits. Tony Musselbrook and Adam Watson pulled some astonishing moves out of the basket, which left most of us wondering what they’d eaten for breakfast! This was all followed up by a video-analysis session.
A great weekend was had by all. A big thanks to Neil for his excellent coaching work and a sad goodbye to Team Manager, Ruth Jenkins who leaves us for a life in sunny France.
