We are excited to announce that delivery of the Regional Development Squads in England and Wales will be starting for eligible athletes from April 2021.
Last year the GB National Development Squad selection policy was amended due to the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the national competition season. This coupled with the cancellation of the YCS Grand Final meant that the entry point for Youth C & Youth D in 2021 was not possible.

To ensure that this important stage of the athlete pathway is not affected by the pandemic, a pilot Regional Development Squad system will be delivered for eligible Youth C and Youth D athletes in England and Wales from April 2021. One of the key objectives will be to help prepare athletes for the rescheduled YCS series in 2021 and beyond.
The overall top 4 male and female athletes in Youth C and Youth D from each region, who took part in the regional 2020 YCS rounds are invited to engage with the Regional Development Squad program in 2021.
FAQ - What if I've moved age categories?
Answer - If a Youth C or D athlete finished in the top 4 in the YCS 2020 and has moved into Youth B or C respectively, they are eligible to join the program.
There are 128 athletes invited in total, 16 from each region.
