Bouldering got the royal seal of approval when the Prince of Wales sent a tricky traverse on a recent visit to Jersey.

Presented with a gleaming new climbing wall on a Diamond Jubilee visit to Jersey, Prince Charles couldn’t resist the challenge before him.

The wall was built by Climbing Wall Solutions - with holds by Holdz - at Grainville Secondary School.

After checking out the moves, he carefully adjusted his double-breasted suit and gave his brown brogues a final polish before stepping on.

The fingery traverse proved no match for the well-honed Windsor: some powerful locks and some foot swaps saw a smooth royal procession along the wall. 

Stepping off, he wiped his brow and looked visibly pleased at burning off the Army cadets.

A palace source said: “He was psyched to climb the first problem on the wall. He’s called it Monstrous Carbuncle and one thinks it’s V2”

The Prince visited the Peak District earlier this year. Shortly after this photo was taken it's believed that he grabbed a quick hour at the Plantation.
