The Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust Grant Scheme recently awarded the Outdoor Partnership ten thousand pounds towards training and mentoring local volunteer leaders.
The Outdoor Partnership was formed in 2005 to provide better access to outdoor activities for people living in North West Wales. Even though surrounded by some of the Britain's most dramatic countryside, people living in the area previously had limited access to outdoor activities through local clubs and networks.
The Outdoor Partnership website now lists over 60 clubs, whose activities include climbing, walking, sailing, mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering, running, triathlon and cycling. Most of these clubs were established by the Outdoor Partnership over the last three years.
The Millenium Stadium Charitable Trust Grant will support 200 volunteers currently leading and assisting in the outdoor clubs in the area. Over the next twelve months, the grant will go towards providing Mountain Leader and Climbing Wall awards, mountain biking courses, Rescue and Emergency Aid courses and Sports Coach UK workshops. Being awarded the grant is a testament to the hard work of the Outdoor Partnership staff and volunteers.
