The people behind the Redpoint Climbing Centre in Birmingham are about to open a brand new facility in Bristol, and have just launched a website for the new centre

Sarah Lees from Redpoint told the BMC: “With Bristol’s ever expanding climbing community, we felt that it was time to introduce a new climbing centre into the mix!”

Redpoint Bristol is based in the south of Bristol. With around 300 routes, two bouldering rooms, an abseil station, a stalactite and even a molten lava crack, it has plenty for all those wanting to come and have a go at the sport.  It also has a viewing platform for those who prefer to relax and watch.

Originally an art deco cinema, the building has been completely renovated to install a state of the art climbing wall, built by Walltopia.  The centre’s roof is covered in solar panels and a wood pellet boiler provides heating and hot water, making Redpoint a very green place to climb!  The building’s distinctive exterior has been completely revamped by  Upfest, who have covered it in amazing art work by “Endoftheline”, “DalEast” “Jody” and “Masai”.

Discerning social climbers will be pleased to know that post-climbing activities have not been neglected. Bristol Rocks Café is a fully licensed café bar where both climbers and locals can come to relax and socialise. Drinks from “Bristol Beer Factory” will be on offer, as will award-winning food from local companies such as “Tom’s Pies” and “Burger Theory”.  The centre will also be able to cater for groups and parties. The centre has changing facilities, showers and disabled access. There are easy public transport links to the centre, and bike and car parking on site.

When does Redpoint Bristol open?
The final stages of the build are currently taking place, and the centre will be opening in the next few weeks.  Check out the website launched this week for an opening date announcement, or keep in touch via Facebook and Twitter
