Munro Mission to honour 10 years in Afghanistan

Posted by Tina Gardner on 02/06/2011

A team aims to climb all 283 Scottish Munro's in just 49 days without motorised transport in aid of a national charity appeal - DecAid - honouring 10 years in Afghanistan.

DecAid has been entirely set up by under 25s at Exeter University and co-founded by BMC member Tom O'Connell who is the leader of the Munro Mission.  The Munro Mission which starts on 1st August is one of five events and they aim to raise a minimum of £350,000 by October 2011 for 3 service charities, Blesma, Talking2Minds and SSAFA Forces Help.

DecAid has dedicated each Munro to a service person or persons who have lost their lives during the conflict in Afghanistan. Each Munro will be sponsored either by a company, group or individuals. See the Sponsor a Munro website for more information www.sponsoramunro.com.
