The latest in a string of exciting developments from Mountain Training sees the launch of a nationally recognised Expedition Skills Module.
It's an optional module for walking leaders who want to increase the scope of their award to include overnight expeditions, wild and valley camping, remote supervision and teaching navigation. The flexibility of the module makes it useful for Lowland Leaders and Hill and Moorland Leaders in terrain and conditions within the scope of their respective leadership award.
Coordinated by Mountain Training, through its network of approved Providers, the Expedition Skills Module involves a combined training and assessment course covering the following areas: equipment, food and cooking, planning and leadership, training and supervising expedition groups.
The module has been created to provide an extended learning opportunity for walking leaders involved with multi-day expeditions. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an excellent example of the type of schemes walking leaders can be involved in that require knowledge and experience not directly covered by Mountain Training’s other awards.
Mountain Training manages a pathway of walking leadership awards and this new module complements these awards by providing an opportunity for individuals to shape their own development. The Expedition Skills Module is a two day training and assessment course.
