Alongside their 50th anniversary celebrations, Mountain Training will be launching a new award in 2014 and are on the lookout for course providers.
The Lowland Leader Award is aimed at those who aspire to lead others in rural countryside and forest, on footpath routes and covers basic navigation and leadership skills. There is also the possibility of delivering an optional Expedition Skills module to Lowland Leader candidates who want to extend the scope of the award to leading and supervising camping expeditions.
Whilst Mountain Training finalise some of the supporting documentation applications are invited from prospective providers of this new award.
Could you provide this award?
Prospective Lowland Leader award providers must:
-
hold a minimum of a Summer Mountain Leader qualification
-
should be able to submit a record of delivery on leadership courses (e.g. Local Authority Countryside Leader Awards) supported by a referee
-
should be able to demonstrate a viable, and on-going, client catchment
After submission of the application those who are accepted for approval by the training boards must attend an induction workshop over two days looking at administration procedures.
Full details about the application process and the dates of planned provider induction workshops are available on Mountain Training's website.
