29 climbers from 12 countries took part in the 2009 Global Youth Summit ascent of Mt Elbrus.
Participants came from countries including Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania and Ukraine.
In total, 21 participants and 4 guides made the summit, with two participants from Austria and Netherlands descending by ski.
National Geographic Romania filmed the successful ascent of the youngest participant ‘Coco’ with her father.
Anne Arran, UIAA Youth Commission President who attended the Global Youth Summit said: "It was fascinating, not just to climb the mountain but to hear about the history of the area from the local people and the guides."
