Two girls, six weeks - an unsupported adventure. British mountaineers Cat Freeman and Emily Andrew set off today for Alaska, where they will climb Denali and then aim to be the first female team to climb Mount Foraker's Sultana Ridge.
On Mt Foraker (5303m), they will climb the 7 mile long undulating Sultana Ridge. This remote route is at Alaskan grade 3.
Last week, surrounded by all her gear and the daunting task of packing, Cat said she was really looking forward to the expedition.
The expedition is sponsored by Chaos and Rab. It is also one of the expeditions to be awarded an expedition grant from the BMC.
