The last round of the IFSC Boulder World Cup has been twinned with the first round of the Paraclimbing World Cup and GB Paraclimbing are out competing in force alongside GB Bouldering.
This weekend will prove to be a great weekend of competition with Shauna Coxsey competing for the overall Boulder World Cup title at the last round of the Boulder World Cup in Laval, France. An event which is being run alongside the first round of the Paraclimbing World Cup.
There are 4 members of the GB team competing in the first and only Boulder Para World Cup of the season - qualification for which starts today.
Fran Brown, Sianagh Gallagher, Phillip Mitchell and Dave Bowes - all of which stand to do very well and kick the season of competition off to a great start, before they move onto Imst next weekend.
This year's season also includes the World Championships in Gijon, Spain, where Fran Brown plans to defend her World Championship title that she acquired in Paris in 2012 - maybe we could have more than one World Champion for 2014? The season will then finish on home soil in October with a Para World Cup run in conjunction with our own British Lead Championships at Awesome Walls Sheffield on the 4-5 October.
The BMC plans to send out competitors to all of the events this season and this has been made possible through the fantastic support we have received from -
Not only has the team been kitted out with some fantastic Wild Country equipment, all the proceeds from the very successful Wideboyz Crack School Masterclasses run by Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker have all been donated to the Paraclimbing Team, giving them much needed funds to travel to the World cup events this season. This will be a fantastic ongoing relationship with Wild Country and the team and the BMC are incredibly appreciative of their efforts so far.
The team were selected on the back of the results of the BMC Paraclimbing Series which was held over three rounds in March to May. The full team selected can be seen below, with a core team and a developmental squad being selected. All of the team will get competition experience this year by at least competing in Sheffield at the end of the season.
