Golden Gecko Climbing, a new centre in Romsey, opens its doors tomorrow, Saturday 2 May, and is offering free entry on the day to anyone who wants to give climbing a try.
The event will be kicking off at 10am and running all the way through until 6pm, and is promised to be fun for any and all who attend, as there will be something for everyone.
The centre provides over 150m2 of bouldering, as well as a central tower of top-rope/lead climbing and a challenge wall with 10 auto-belays, meaning no climbing partner is required!
Golden Gecko aims to provide fun climbing opportunities for everyone from novice to expert. Geoff Niblett, managing director explained that he wants to provide “fun climbing challenges which people aged five and upwards will have instant access to.” and aims to create a facility where “All you need to do is put on a safety harness and go climbing” to have fun!
Councillor Jan Lovell, Mayor of Test Valley commented: “Golden Gecko Climbing will be a fantastic facility for Romsey, providing an opportunity for people to try a new sport which is quickly accessible… this will attract people from a considerable catchment, boosting the number of new visitors into Romsey… The business also represents a significant investment into Romsey Industrial Estate creating about a dozen new jobs. Test Valley Borough Council is pleased to support this new venture.”
The Golden Gecko team look forward to seeing many BMC members, friends and local residents on 2 May for a free climb! Bring all the family, as those with their feet firmly on the ground will have access to refreshments available from the new, great value ‘Energy Bar’, boasting barista coffee as well as hot and cold food!
