Climbing walls body seeks development officer

The Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC) is looking for a new Development Officer to oversee the development and implementation of a series of new projects and initiatives.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a new website to bring the “Face” of the ABC up-to-date.
  • Contribution to and overseeing the rebranding of the ABC.
  • Preparation of minutes from meetings of the various Committees in order to ensure clear and concise communication and record keeping.
  • Promotion of external engagement and development and management of relationships with various other trade and government bodies, such as the HSE, BMC, OIA and CWMA in order to enhance the profile and reputation of the ABC
  • Ensuring that members are provided with appropriate information, support and guidance in order to achieve industry wide best practice, including but not limited to the production of a quarterly newsletter.
  • Organising and promoting AGMs/meetings/events to aid in communication both within the organisation and externally.
  • Keeping up to date with, and informing the various Committees of, developments within the UK and overseas that may impact on the industry.
  • Such other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Management Committee in agreement with you. Such agreement should not be unreasonably withheld.

Knowledge, Skills Qualifications & Experience Required:
The successful candidate will ideally have substantial, relevant experience in administrative, development and communication roles and should be a highly motivated self-starter with good IT skills. They will be articulate, creative and have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Notable Requirements:
The post requires that some travel is undertaken in order to attend and produce minutes for the various Committee meetings as well as the AGM; You may, with reasonable notice, be required to work, from time to time, at any of the ABC member sites.

Key information
Hours of Work: 16 -20 hours per week (to be agreed)
Contract: Fixed Term (1 year with possibility to extend)
Reporting to: ABC Management Committee
Responsible for: Business Development & Communication
Salary: £9,200 – £13,500
