Instructing Disabled People in Rock Climbing is a Climbing for All workshop that carries one CPD point. The next three workshops available are listed below.
Climbing for All is a one day course providing an introduction to instructing disabled people in climbing. The course has now been delivered for over 11 years and was developed by Adventure for All and Mountain Training England and Association of Mountaineering Instructors.
The purpose of the course is to provide instructors and coaches increased confidence and skills to enable disabled people to experience and enjoy climbing. The course also provides you with an opportunity to test you instructing and coaching skills in new territories.
The course is delivered in two halves
1. Theory/Practical
•Appropriate/Inappropriate Language
•Types of Disabilities
•How do Disabilities Occur
•Models of Disability
•Identifying and Tackling Barriers
2. The second half covers
•Climbing Environments
•Side Supported Climbing
•Vertical Hoists
•Wheelchair Abseiling
The course can be delivered in a very wide variety of environments including commercial walls, school walls, outdoors & adventure venues.
The course is open to all people but please be aware that some aspects of the course are outside the remit of some awards for example CWA and SPA. This may require approval to deliver from a technical advisor. Please speak to the course provider regarding this.

Courses for indoor climbers making their first moves onto rock
Who are they for?
These courses are ideal for novice climbing club members, students, parents and individuals who may have had the odd taster of climbing outdoors and wish to gain key safety skills at an excellent price. They may also be a good precursor for people contemplating the Single Pitch Award training. You should already know how to put on a harness and belay. These courses are for people aged 18 or older.
