Winning three teams from LUBE 2014

The London University Bouldering Event (LUBE) is returning for a sixth year and once again all UK university teams are invited to enter.

LUBE consists of four rounds held throughout the academic year, all at different climbing walls in London. All UK universities are eligible to compete, and last year over 130 competitors from 20 universities took part.

The overall winning university will receive the LUBE V12 Award, a custom made award hailing from the valleys of Snowdonia. Previous winners include Brighton, Cardiff, Warwick. Kings College London and and reigning champions Exeter.  Other prizes will be given to top competitors, ranging from clothing and chalk bags to climbing shoes and fingerboards.

Roz Lees, KCLMC competition secretary said: "We're excited for LUBE 2015 and are expecting this year to be the biggest yet. So get your training started!"

LUBE 2015 dates and venues

Round 1:  8 November 2014 @ Vauxwall

Round 2:  29 November 2014 @ White Spider

Round 3:  7 February 2015 @ Craggy 2

Round 4:  7 March 2015 @ The Arch

The cost per university for entering LUBE 2015 is £200 and each university can bring a maximum of two teams plus two individuals (i.e. eight people). A team consists of three climbers, with at least one female.

LUBE was set up by the committee of King’s College London Mountaineering Club back in 2010 in response to the lack of a regular student bouldering competition. It was thought that students deserved a chance to compete regularly against the best talent other universities had to offer, and the competition has proved extremely popular.

LUBE provides a great training ground for building up to the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition which is at The Climbing Works in Sheffield on Saturday 21 February 2015.
