The final round of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup took place in Eindhoven on the 12th and 13th June. 11 members of the British Bouldering Team took part.

The event saw some impressive performances from the team. Both Ned Fehally, the current Male British Bouldering Champion, and Diane Merrick made it through the qualifying round on Friday to Saturday’s semi-finals. Diane finished a very credible 15th in the Women’s event and Ned qualified for the Men’s final on Saturday evening.

After an exciting final Ned finished in 6th place. It’s great to see younger members of the Bouldering team starting to fulfil their potential on the international circuit.

Other impressive performances came from Dave Barrans who finished 25th, Stew Watson 27th, Leah Crane 25th and Mina Leslie-Wujastyk 27th. A number of squad members also participated and gained valuable international competition experience including:

Men

  • Dave Mason 41st
  • Adam Jeewooth 47th
  • John Partridge 57th

Women

  • Rae Cowie 35th
  • Ellie Howard 38th

There have been plenty of impressive perfomances from the Bouldering Team throughout this competition season, most notably at the third round of the World Cup in Vienna, Austria, where 6 members of the team competed.

Dave Barrans and Stewart Watson made it through to the semi-finals, both climbed excellently with Stewart finishing in 8th place, however Dave qualified for the final in 1st place! He finished the compettition in 6th place, due to a shoulder injury sustained in the semis. See the final placings below.

Women:

  • Diane Merrick 21st
  • Raelene Cowie 46th
  • Helen Shilletto 51st

Men:

  • Dave Barrans 6th
  • Stew Watson 8th
