The second round of the BMC Youth Climbing Series 2018 has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Full details below.
It's with great regret that the BMC has decided to cancel the upcoming Round 2 of the BMC Youth Climbing Series that was due to run on Saturday 3 March 2018. The event will not be rescheduled.
Recent adverse weather conditions gave rise to concerns over whether competitors would be able to make the competition. And with many venues not able to postpone the event, it was deemed the only way to make the situation fair to all athletes was to cancel Round 2 entirely.
This decision means that only results from Round 1 and Round 3 will count towards the Grand Final. We will also be relaxing Rule 2.9.4 and we will be allowing qualification for the final by a competitor who only competes in one round.
Zoe Spriggins, BMC competitions programme manager, said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused but felt this was the best decision in light of the treacherous conditions being experienced across the UK and forecast over the next 48 hours.”
Refunds for those that had entered Round 2 will be arranged next week.
