The second round of the BMC/Climb Scotland Paraclimbing Series took place last Saturday with record numbers of competitors at Manchester Climbing Centre
With 40 competitors in attendance Manchester Climbing Centre was packed with paraclimbing action. The Paraclimbing series now in its fifth year having a growing loyal group of competitors and it was great to see those numbers rise once again at MCC at the weekend.
There were 14 categories represented and 8 of those had full podiums which shows that the sport of paraclimbing has a really strong following and support.
Each of the climbers gave it maximum effort on their 3 climbs and 3 boulders, and the route setters had set some tricky routes for them to try, even the customary easier route 1, was the walkover it normally is. The standout performance came from newcomer Mikey Cleverdon in the Male NPD category who top all the routes and boulder problems for a perfect score - the only one of the event.
Everyone had a great time there was fantastic support from the spectators and great camaraderie from the competitors.
