The British Bouldering Team Trials have just been held at the Climbing Works, Sheffield on Saturday 9th December.
The trials followed on from the official opening of the wall - reckoned to be the World's biggest bouldering centre. The Lady Mayoress of Sheffield and Joe Simpson opened the wall, and Richard Caborn, the Minister for Sport (Labour MP for Sheffield Central) also popped in to watch the event.
Results are:
Women
1 Audrey Seguy
2 Katy Whittaker
3 Rachel Seymour
Men
1 Stewart Watson
2 Dave Barrans
3 Gaz Parry
For full results see the British Climbing Team site.
Selection for the Team will be based on performances at the Trials but will not automatically follow a strict top 10 = Team. The ‘winner’ of the Trials category will receive an invite onto the Team. Other climbers will also receive invites but each climber will be assessed on an individual basis - factors such as potential, previous history, attitude etc will be used to judge a climbers suitability for an invite to the Team.
The full British Climbing Team for 2007 will be announced early in the year.
