Here are our top picks from this year's Kendal Mountain Festival - taking place from 15 -18 November.
1. Free Solo UK Premiere
Don't miss this. World-renowned climber Alex Honnold has pushed the limits even further with a successful free solo ascent of Freerider in Yosemite. The hugely anticipated film, Free Solo, will have its UK premiere at this year’s festival. Out of the 60 films being shown throughout the festival, this is undoubtedly one of the highlights. 2. Shauna Coxsey: High Hopes
Britain’s most successful ever competition climber, Shauna Coxsey takes to the stage to share her experiences of competitive climbing and her future aspirations within the sport. Shauna is the two-time Overall World Bouldering Champion, one of the first women to boulder 8B+ and was also awarded an MBE. She will talk about life on the World Cup circuit, her climbing philosophy and the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This rare opportunity to hear a current climbing great speak, and will be sure to sell out, so get your ticket fast!
3. Cameron McNeish: There’s Always Hills
Now in its second year, Kendal Mountain Literature Festival has over 40 of the UK’s foremost authors of nature, landscape and mountain literature. Following his career as an international long jumper, award-winning mountaineering writer, Cameron McNeish will reflect on a life dedicated to mountaineering, hill-walking and long-distance backpacking, documented in his autobiography ‘There’s Always the Hills’. 4. Mick Fowler: No Easy Way
Voted the "Mountaineers' Mountaineer" in a poll in The Observer, Mick Fowler joins the festival to launch his latest book "No Easy Way”, in which he relives some of his most memorable climbing and mountaineering experiences. Find out more about his book and buy your tickets here .
5. Tom Livingstone
An adventurer from the cutting edge of modern alpinism and exploration, Tom Livingstone headlines the Mountain Equipment High Mountain session following his stunning ascent of Latok I in the Karakorum , Pakistan this August. Find out more and buy tickets.
