2 new equipment advice series from the BMC

Safe, or not so safe?

Climbing and mountaineering are all about accepting the risks and taking personal responsibility. Make your choices from a position of informed understanding, by gaining personal experience but also by learning from others.

Equipment advice features from the BMC provide information to assist novices and experts alike. We have launched 2 new series:

The Knowledge: Each feature looks at a specific type of equipment, and tells you what you need to know about it. Basic info is followed by links to expert articles, incident reports on failures and where to find further advice. Current features cover ropes, karabiners & quickdraws, bolts and helmets. More features will follow to eventually cover the full spectrum of equipment.

A+E: Every now and then an incident report comes through which merits further publicity. A+E enables lessons to be learned from the misfortune of others, hopefully reducing the chances of a recurrence.
