Winter has come. It’s time to dust off your ice tools and polish your aspirations. And if you want to leave the easier gullies behind and head onto technical ground this season, then check out our new winter skills films.
At the start of every season, it’s time to take a long look at yourself in the mirror and ask: what do you want your season to be this year? Do you want to climb the same grade as last year, or do you want to push yourself?
If you want to leave the grade I/II gullies behind then that means tackling technical ground of grade III and beyond. Climbing and protecting yourself on steeper ground requires building up your winter skills, so we’ve launched a fourth series of winter skills films to help you get established.
Follow Heather Morning from Mountaineering Scotland and Richard Bentley from Mountain Motion , as they explain the skills you’ll need to climb grade III mixed ground in these seven short films.
The films are produced exclusively for BMC TV in association with the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) , Lowe Alpine and DMM .
These videos will make you aware of the skills you’ll need in the winter environment. But remember, if you're at all unsure about your skills then get some face-to-face instruction from an experienced guide.
This series is the fourth in our range of winter skills videos. If you want to start at the beginning, check out:
