The Cairngorms in winter.

A hill walker has been found dead after his five companions were airlifted to safety from the Cairngorms.

After a large-scale search, involving over 100 rescuers, five walkers have been rescued from the Cairngorms.

The party from Leeds University Hiking Club was reported overdue on Sunday night, and the alert was raised on Sunday after one of the party became separated and was rescued by the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team.

The five, who are unhurt, were found near Carn Tarsuinn by Braemar Mountain Rescue Team at about 12:10.

Shortly afterwards, the body of Graham Connell, 31, from Castleford, West Yorkshire, was found in the Jacob's Ladder area.
