You’ve started climbing indoors, but you’re not sure you’ve got the skills for outdoors yet, you might not know anyone who climbs outdoors, and you’re certain you don’t have all the equipment you need. The BMC have teamed up with This Girl Can to run some Ready to Rock Women's beginner sessions.
Ready to Rock: Women's beginner sessions
If you've never climbed outdoors before, or you’ve only tried it a couple of times in the past you might want to start with these Ready to Rock Women's beginner sessions. These half day sessions are perfect for those who climb or boulder indoors, so for top rope sessions you’ll already know how to tie in, put a harness on and top rope belay. The aim of the session is to have a go at climbing outdoors see what it’s all about, and take the first steps to being able to get outdoors more often.
Ready to Rock: Women's Improver sessions
The next step would be some regular sessions for you to pick up some new skills and techniques and learn more about how to get outdoor climbing and bouldering more regularly. In some locations you'll see there are a series of Ready to Rock Women’s improver sessions. These are perfect for newer outdoor climbers who have attended a beginners session, or those who want to develop their climbing skills and confidence. Again you'll already climb or boulder indoors, so for top rope sessions you’ll already know how to tie in, put a harness on and top rope belay.
Find and book a session near you.
More sessions are due to be added in various locations.
These sessions are available at the subsidised rates: the half-day sessions are only £8 for BMC members , and £12 for non-members, full day sessions are £20 for BMC members, and £28 for non-members. Find out more about becoming a BMC member. If you have your own equipment please do bring it, along with some water, snacks, suitable foot wear and clothing for the weather conditions and bags of enthusiasm for some new adventures.

All courses are run by members of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors or Mountain Training Association and so we know they are super experienced in taking groups outdoors. We have tried to ensure that all instructors are female, but in some instances you may find a male instructor.
