The Roaches on Countryfile

Posted by Tina Gardner on 28/11/2010

Today's Countryfile (Sunday 28 November) saw presenter Matt Baker visit the Roaches to try out the gritstone and take a look at the Peak District National Park Authority's intentions to hand over management of the Roaches estate.

Filming took place a couple of weeks ago, with local BMC volunteer Andi Turner showing presenter Matt the ropes as they took on Central Route (VS 4b), just along from The Sloth.

Countryfile also interviewed BMC volunteer Michael Hunt, chair of the Whillans Memorial Hut Committee, who showed them around Rockhall Cottage and chatted about its history.

The programme was shown on Sunday 28 November at 6.30pm on BBC One.
