Decathlon have issued a recall notice for the Simond Edge rope, the models affected are the 9mm x 80m and the 9mm x 100m. Users are requested to stop using any affected product and to return it to their nearest Decathlon store and be issued a refund.
From Decathlon:
Please stop using this product.
We kindly request that you stop using this product.
As part of our quality control processes, we have identified that the sheath of the rope may wear suddenly during falls, no longer providing adequate protection to the core of the rope. Although this rope complies with current standards, it does not meet our quality requirements and our commitment to ensuring maximum safety for climbers.
As a precautionary measure, we therefore ask you to stop using your product immediately. We invite you to return your rope to your nearest DECATHLON store, where you will be refunded.
Our customer relations centre is available to address any of your inquiries by WhatsApp at +44 (0)748 306 8343, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or by email at customer.enquiries@decathlon.com.
We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
