The BMC is pleased to report we have agreed a trial arrangement with the shooting club, and climbers can access this fine gritstone quarry on a few selected dates in 2008.
De facto access to this area has been established over a period of time. However, restrictions on public access apply to the shooting range, most of the crag, and an area of open moorland behind (Deer Hill Moss).
After a long period when access was banned on safety grounds, the BMC and the Lydgate Rifle & Pistol Club have agreed the following four specific dates when climbers can access the crag (all day) in safety.
In 2008 these are,
(30th August )
13th September
27th September
11th October
The access trial will be reviewed in January 2009, in the meantime the BMC request climbers play their part in making the new arrangements work by only visiting the crag on the agreed dates.
In addition, climbers can now use the shooting club car park.
