The BMC is pleased to report an access breakthrough at this fine West Yorkshire grit crag.
The BMC has been negotiating with the Lydgate Pistol & Rifle Club (LP&RC) on several issues over the past couple of years, including a number of well-attended weekend climbing days, and we have now received confirmation that Shooters Nab is now available every Friday evening. This arrangement is in addition to the likely 8-10 agreed weekend days in 2010 and represents a nice bonus for climbers who want to sample the crag's quarried technicalities after work on Fridays.
The BMC would like to thank the LP&RC for their progressive approach towards managing public access around a well-used live firing range - it is vital that climbers remember this and do not access the crag if the red warning flags are in place.
Shooting is not supposed to take place on Friday evenings, but people make mistakes, for example by shooting at the wrong time or leaving the warning flags out - either way, why chance it?
Climbers are permitted to park in the clubhouse car park, and the BMC advises all climbers wishing to access the crag on Fridays to take advantage of this. It should be relatively straightforward to determine if people are shooting from here.
