Pat Deavoll and Malcolm Bass are safely back at basecamp after an attempt to climb Beka Brakkai Chhok in the Karakoram.
The expedition was awarded a BMC expedition grant. Unfortunately the summit bid was unsuccesssful and it looks like we'll have to wait until they reach an internet cafe to hear the full story.
Beka Brakkai Chhok (6940m) is located in the Batura massif, a sub-range of the Karakoram mountains in the Gilgit district of northern Pakistan, west of the Hunza valley. The peak lies close to Batura II, the highest unclimbed mountain in the world.
This is Pat's second attempt on the mountain, as last year her expedition with Lydia Bradey came to a halt at 6000m. However last year the pair accomplished a first ascent of Wahine, Baltar Glacier.
