Rock Climbing Essentials is the sixth title in the BMC's series of skills DVDs. Our latest film follows four climbers on single and multi-pitch rock climbs. From small moorland outcrops to mountain crags and sea cliffs, watch the steps they take for a great and safe day’s climbing.

Rock Climbing Essentials will inspire all those wanting to climb outside. Written by experts and packed with advice, the DVD is applicable to beginners and more experienced climbers alike. Skills and techniques shown cover the full range of rock-climbing styles practised in the UK.

Reflecting the variety of climbing available in Britain, we filmed on an amazingly diverse range of crags including Gogarth, Dinas Cromlech, Carreg Wastad, Pen Trwyn and the Roaches.

Technical chapters expand on the film's core messages. Abseiling, bouldering, runners and ropework, emergencies, sport climbing, access and conservation and equipment care are all covered in depth. Together, the film and technical chapters provide over three hours of indispensable advice.

Rock Climbing Essentials has been jointly produced by the British Mountaineering Council and Plas y Brenin with support from Sport England.
