Queen honours mountaineers

BMC Patron (and former President) Sir Chris Bonington has become a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The appointment is in recognition of Sir Chris's services to the royal family, for his role as deputy patron of the Outward Bound Trust.

Roger Jones, former leader of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation, was awarded an MBE for voluntary service to mountain rescue in north Wales.
