Performance sport climbing days for young people

These courses will be run by Ian Dunn who has many years of experience sport climbing. Ian is a Development Coach. Ian really enjoys sport climbing and has climbed extensively in the UK, Europe and Thailand, he also loves passing on knowledge to others and seeing climbers push themselves and achieve their goals. Ian has run many workshops and Sport Climbing Courses for The BMC.

Who are these courses for?

11-17 year olds who are leading indoors, F6b or harder and wish to gain outdoor sport skills and coaching guidance.

Duration

The course will meet up at 10.00am and go on until around 17.00pm.

Parental supervision

Participants are required to remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian over the age of 18. The supervisor must be willing and able to approach the crag with the group which may involve uneven and steep ground.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring along:

  • Climbing shoes & chalk bag
  • Harness
  • Helmet
  • Belay Device
  • The single rope you lead on indoors (don't worry if you don't have one)
  • Any other sport climbing equipment that you may own (quickdraws etc.)
  • Lunch and warm clothing

Cost

These courses cost £80 per young person, which includes parental supervision. Ian can also be booked for 1 to 1 coaching in any of the areas. Email Ian to arrange suitable venues and dates for this.

Subsidised Youth Course Places

There are a large number of free places on courses for families who may struggle to afford it. Any families who live in rented accommodation and who receive income support or universal credit may contact the instructor of a course or Alex West for a place.
