Following Gus Morton's recommended list of Less difficult classics in the Mont Blanc Massif, here for your enjoyment is a second list, this time of more than 80 rock routes that can be classified as "fun".
The list has again been complied by Morton, who has done around 50 of these lines. The listed routes are generally no harder than grade F5, bolted and therefore easy to rappel from, at least three pitches long, no more than one hour’s walk from the car, and not more than one-and-a-half hours' drive from the Chamonix Valley. However, there are one or two exceptions.
Several climbs of F6 are included, but for the majority of these a discrete pull on a bolt can reduce the grade to 5, and this obligatory grade is given in brackets after the route name. The list includes number of pitches, orientation, approach time, grade and appropriate guidebook. As usual, 1pa means one point of aid, and 1 pas 6a means a move of 6a. "Trad pro" means the route is not fully bolted, so friends, nuts etc should be carried.
