2022 kicked off with a strong turnout at Baildon Bank crag clean up.
This was one of numerous BMC volunteer led events we've seen this year, helping take care of the places we love most.
The Big Bang: The Emma Tywford Story
When Emma Twyford powered, crimped and screamed her way to the top of The Big Bang at Lower Pen Trwyn, she ended a three-year battle and entered British climbing’s history books as the first British woman to break the 9a barrier.

It was Gold for Max Milne and Michaela Tracey at the Cotswold Outdoor British Bouldering Championships.
Nantlle Ridge with Blackdog Outdoors
In 2022 more and more took to the wilderness to walk, climb and escape from the noise and bustle of everyday life.
Join mental health charity, Blackdog Outdoors as they led a group along Yr Wydffa Nantlle Ridge, find joy, companionship and inner peace that a day in the hills can provide.

IFSC Climbing World Cup Edinburgh 2022: World Cup
Drama, passion, and a bronze medal for Great Britain. The Lead and Speed World Cup was hosted by the BMC in September 2022. As 189 athletes from 26 countries descend on Edinburgh for the competition, you can relive the action at the Edinburgh International Climbing Area.

Female coaches in high performance
Earlier this year, Rachel Carr was one of two GB Climbing coaches selected for the UK Sport’s Female Coaches Leadership Programme, in this short film Rachel discusses the importance of female representation within the sports industry.
In September she returned to her old stomping ground for the Edinburgh World Cup, Rachel has a 'full circle moment' from an athlete to coach, as she led the GB Coaching team in a triumphant weekend of competition.

The power of the outdoors can be transformative. Connecting with new experiences and like-minded people through walking, climbing and mountaineering creates powerful communities and lifelong memories.
In 2022 the BMC in proud partnership with Berghaus launched the podcast for season 2.
Blanket bogs are worth protecting
The BMC continued it’s work to protect the outdoor environment so that people can enjoy adventuring in the hills - both now and for future generations.
Working with partner organisations such as Moors for the Future, we highlighted the importance of blanket bogs in the fight against climate change.
BMC TV City Climb
Climbing is growing faster than ever and more climbing gyms are filling up with psyched people who are discovering all that this fabulous sport can offer.
City Climb is a series of short films from the BMC that look at the climbing opportunities for new climbers in our urban centres.
