The team filming Off Piste Essentials have just returned from the Alps after a successful shoot.
Off Piste Essentials, the next DVD in the
successful series, was written and directed by Martin Chester and Rob Spencer, both Guides working at Plas y Brenin.
“The conditions couldn’t have been better”, said Martin. “Following a massive dump of snow at the start of the week, we had a mix of weather and skied some great snow. From fresh tracks in the trees to the glistening seracs of the Ochsentaler glacier, we got everything we were after”.
The filming all took place in the Silvretta Alps, a classic ski touring area on the Austrian Swiss border. Rich Heap and Ben Pritchard, from Slackjaw Productions, proved that there is no end to the versatile talents of this film making duo.
"The team were perfect – a fun group of real skiers," said Martin. "They will inspire many others to safely break away from the pistes, and enjoy skiing in the mountains. I just can’t wait to see the finished film.”
The first cut is being edited right now, and should be finished by the autumn. The DVD is a joint Plas y Brenin / BMC production and will be launched at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
This year is busy for filming, with Hill Walking Essentials being shot next month in the Lake District and the Highlands of Scotland. A joint BMC / MLTE / MCofS production, Hill Walking Essentials will also be launched at Kendal.
