Struggling to self-arrest or perhaps you’re cursing those crampons when you can’t cram them on your boots? Whatever your troubles, BMC TV’s second set of winter skills videos will help you get back outdoors this snow season.

It’s that time of the year again, when winter rolls around and we begin to dig out the gear to cope with cold, snowy, or even icy conditions. But while the tools are (hopefully) rust-free, have our skills with them survived the summer untarnished?

There’s snow problem if not, as we’ve got a range of winter skills videos that will give you a much needed refresher. Following on from our first series of exceptional and educational videos, we teamed up once again with the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI), Lowe Alpine and DMM to bring you further skills in the hills.

If you have the time, check out our range of BMC-subsidised Winter Skills in Wales weekends. Our videos are great for topping up your skills, but there really is no better way of learning than having skills and knowledge imparted face-to-face by an experienced instructor.

For those that are after a quick educational hit, check out BMC TV’s videos below.

This series is the second in our range of winter skills videos. If you want to start at the beginning, or the end, follow the links below.

In the clip "Winter Skills 2.7: how to make a snow belay" the instructor attaches himself to the buried axe on his left and has the live rope on his right thereby increasing the risk of rotation should his second fall.
