Mountain Training has officially launched its new integrated Candidate Management System: a revolutionary new online database of all candidates and courses within Mountain Training.
There were a few nerves at Mountain Training on launch day, but everything has gone very well.
”We were expecting all the lights in Capel Curig to dim we went sent our email to thirty-nine thousand people, but it seems to have gone remarkably well so far", said John Cousins, Executive Officer of Mountain Training UK said. "Twenty four hours later and we have three thousand three hundred candidates on line. Our thanks go out to everyone who has supported the project to date”
Those emailed were existing candidates (such as Mountain Leaders and Single Pitch Award holders) to let them know how to access their newly-created accounts.
The Candidate Management System (CMS) is designed to answer the needs of all Mountain Training members, individuals and the public, and it represents a major step forward.
Users can now update their personal details, view previous and upcoming courses, and CPD workshops around the country. Information on the benefits of joining the Mountain Training Association can also be found on the website.
Mountain Training accredited providers and the members of the Mountain Training Association have been using it for the past month and the feedback so far has been very positive.

Can you update your record?
In total, Mountain Training has records for 135,309 individuals who have registered with one of their awards over the last 48 years. If you're one of the 100,000 candidates who are out there without a known email address, then visit their new site and update your details.
What is Mountain Training?
Mountain Training is the new name for the Mountain Leader Training Boards. The word 'leader' was removed earlier this year to reflect the increasingly diverse nature of the individuals, organisations and disciplines now involved in mountain training activities.
Mountain Training is a number of related organisations which share a common purpose: the provision of education and training in the leadership, instruction and coaching of climbing, walking and mountaineering activities in the UK. These organisations include four home-nation training boards and the umbrella UK board.
The new names for the training boards are:
Mountain Training Cymru (MTC)
Mountain Training England (MTE)
Mountain Training Northern Ireland (MTNI)
Mountain Training Scotland (MTS)
Mountain Training UK (MTUK)
