In an unbelivable and shocking manner all three of Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team's emergency ambulance Land Rovers were targeted by criminals and put out of action in what was possibly an attempted theft between Monday night and Tuesday morning

The three emergency response Land Rovers, which are critical and vital items of equipment for the team were targeted by criminals outside the teams' base in Nant Peris on the night of Monday 8 June.  The damage is considerable and has effectively put Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team out of action until the vehicles can be repaired. As the busiest Mountain Rescue Team in the UK, Llanberis MRT covers the honey pot areas of Snowdon, the Llanberis Pass and the popular climbing areas such as the slate quarries and Cloggy and is called out on average at least four times a week.

Over the weekend the Team had a busy and traumatic time, dealing with four seperate incidents on Snowdon on Saturday, then on Sunday morning team members were first on scene at the tragic incident at Llanberis water fall.In that incident two local men drowned  but two lives were also saved as the direct result of swift and brave efforts of those team members. These very same vehicles that have been damaged were critical to the team's response to that incident.

The vehicles had been purchased and equipped solely with charitable donations from the public, sponsors and other supporters and it will be a considerable cost for the team to repair this damage.
